Two showcase projects completed

15 June 2009

It is particularly pleasing when we arrive at the end of a project and the general consensus of opinion is WOW. We have had two this week as we have put the final touches to a pair of new houses in Bepton, West Sussex. Our clients gave us a remit of designing and planting gardens for two new sizeable country houses. Our lead garden designer, Dan Lobb, had several meetings both on site and here at our garden design studio in Liphook; a budget was agreed and the design process was underway. One of the initial challenges was to screen sufficiently the two properties to give maximum privacy, and after looking around several tree nurseries we stumped for Hilliers of Winchester to provide us with six magnificent Hornbeams as well as Betula and a single Zelkova.  All required a crane to put them in place and with appropriate staking and watering systems we are confident they will transplant successfully.

We needed a wow factor to both entrances and with a mixture of yew and box topiary we have achieved a highly visual entrance way and frontage. There are over 1000 specimen plants including Rhododendrons, Azaleas and Camellias all associating well with bamboo and a handful of Acers. An under planting of Lavender, Crocosmia Verbena and Rudbeckia, to name but a few, help to frame the buildings and give volumes of colour.  The recently sowed paddock is responding to the warmth and improving light levels and will soon need a cut, while we have a continuous weekly maintenance programme of grass cutting, weeding etc, to keep the place looking fab. Watch out for pictures of the projects, coming soon. Happy days.
